WORRY IS A SIN

WORRY, THE POISON OF THE SERPENT ON THE INWARD MAN RENEWED AFTER CHRIST.
TEXT: MATTHEW 6: 24 TO 34

Matt 6:24-34
You Cannot Serve God and Riches 24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Do Not Worry (Luke 12:22-31) 25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
NKJV

Christ and His Apostles spoke at length about the danger of giving room to worry, we are warned not to worry no matter the circumstances that surround us, our life is more than eating, drinking, and marrying, having children, having a good job, comforts that money can buy etc
Most of the time in the journey towards perfection, we are slowed down when we allow the poison of the serpent to penetrate us by worrying about things that have become a point of affliction in our life here, we start comparing ourselves with the people that are not on the same race as us, we give room for the enemy to make us at times doubt the love of our father, we look at the things we lack from the point of view of the standard of the world and forget that we belong to a kingdom getting established through us where the god that rules know we are been groomed to take over from him and he will do anything to frustrate us out of the race. When we refuse to let sin have dominion over us, he knows that the only other way to get his poison into us is through afflictions, suffering and persecution. He knows that all of this also works in us a glory that far outweighs them in comparison, because God causes all things to work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose, he will not let you go through it and receive a crown at the end of it, thereby making him an all round loser.

How will he then make this work to his advantage? By making you contradict the warning of Christ and his apostles that tells you not to worry about anything, when you give room to worry on any denial of a necessity that has turned into a point of affliction for your soul, you are giving room for the serpent to bite and introduce his poison into you and get you defiled before God.

Rom 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
NKJV

2 Cor 4:16-18
Seeing the Invisible 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
NKJV

I am not saying that it should not give us concern when some things are not working as it should, but I am saying it should not get to the point of worrying, it becomes worry when you set your heart upon it and your whole attention gets fixed on the situation, to the extent it seats as lord over your soul, before you know it the joy of your salvation will be drained by the poison and you start struggling to enjoy your time with the lord in the secret place, you become sorrowful, anxious and all your thought gets centered on yourself rather than on Him and you can no longer love the Lord with the whole of your heart, you start gradually ( as the poison takes root) to doubt the love of God, you loss trust in Him, you start comparing your life with unbelievers, you start looking at things that are seen rather than the unseen realities of the kingdom, your meditation is solely centered on the self and you see your nakedness like Adam. Before long you are sapped of the revelations that have been the source of life to you and you move in on other sin by thinking and searching for ways to solve the problem.

What then should a disciple do?
1. Do not fret, worry or lose heart
2. Refuse to meditate and get sorrowful about your situation, this type of sorrow only leads you away from the Lord
3. Focus your attention on the unseen realities of the kingdom
4. The kingdom suffers violence and the violent take it by force
5. Trust the lord, He cares for you than you know
6. Know that nothing can be done by power or might but by His spirit
7. Put it in his hands
8. Remember the three Hebrew men; if our God does not save us we will not bow to your image oh king.
9. Stop looking at the things that can be seen
10. Know that it works in you virtue that cannot be bought with money, patience and endurance
11. His thought towards you are beyond this plain and present world and the seen realities
12. Whenever these thoughts prop up in your mind, resist the thought and put them in His care by prayer and supplication and forget about them.
13. Deliberately put your thought on the unseen realities of the kingdom, pure things, holy things and things that are of good report
14. Resist the devil and he will flee
15. Meditate on the word
16. Use your findings through meditating in the word on the situation to build your confessions and strengthen your faith
17. Speak into the atmosphere your discoveries in the word about you and the situation
18. Remind yourself that the corruption that entered the world did so through human desires
19. Check with the Holy Spirit if there is anything you are doing wrong or have done wrong
20. Pray earnestly because it makes tremendous power available to cause change

NKJV

Phil 4:6-8
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Meditate on These Things 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.
NKJV

James 4:7-10
Humility Cures Worldliness 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
NKJV

James 5:10-11
10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.
11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord — that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
NKJV

James 5:13-16
Meeting Specific Needs (cf. 1 Kings 18:41-46) 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
NKJV

1 Peter 3:17-18
17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Christ's Suffering and Ours 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
NKJV

1 Peter 4:12-16
Suffering for God's Glory 12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;
13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters.
16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
NKJV

1 Peter 5:5-11
Submit to God, Resist the Devil 5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
NKJV

PRAYER
If you are at this point now, pray that the Lord forgive you for giving room to the poison of the serpent in your inward man, ask that he cleanse you completely and renew a right spirit within you, let the Holy Spirit breath on you afresh.
And the peace of God will flood your heart in Jesus name. Amen

CONFESSION
I refuse to fret about my situation, worry and give room to anxiety and the poison of the devil in my spirit. I will trust the Lord because I know He cares for me. My portion with the Lord will not be taking away because of my desires, the love of the Lord in me is greater than my life and desires because my inheritance is in Him. All the promises of the Lord in His word concerning me will come to pass, I will resist the devil whenever he appears to remind me of my situation and he must flee.
